Podium Foundation
Watching Luke Anthony (my son) work his way through the triathlon ranks (from youth, to junior, to top 10 in the world for juniors, to the USAT Olympic Development team), many things became evident to me including how much it takes to compete at the highest levels of this sport.
One of the key reasons I founded Podium Racing was to create a platform where athletes could be laser-focused on their careers and not fixated on what it takes to finance them.
To that end, we have developed a model that is centered around Podium Foundation, the charitable arm of Podium Racing.
The above model represents how we have aligned key aspects of Podium Racing to support the mission of Podium Foundation.
Podium Foundation Mission: to empower the future of multi-sport, supporting both next-generation and adaptive athletes.
Here’s how the model works:
supertri Team: We are committing a portion of the proceeds from our sponsors/partners, race winnings, and other revenue to the foundation. supertri is the fastest growing and most innovative segment of triathlon, giving Podium Racing a ‘platform’ to build a global brand that can help us achieve our mission.
Coaching Services: similar to the supertri team, we will commit a portion of the revenue we earn from our coaching services to the foundation. The more we grow, the more we help athletes reach “their” podium and the more we can enable the foundation to do its work.
Individual Donors: a critical component to the foundation are the individuals that donate to the foundation directly.
Podium Foundation uses the funds to support next-generation athletes and adaptive athletes. We’ve provided gear such as wetsuits, grants, reduced coaching fees and specialized equipment for adaptive athletes - all of which helps next-generation athletes achieve their dreams.
In addition to the funds, we also provide emerging elite athletes with the opportunity race at the highest level of the sport. In our inaugural supertri season, we provided the following athletes with this unique racing opportunity:
John Reed (USA): John is quickly rising to be one USA’s top Americans and delivered a stellar performance in the Boston supertri race - placing 9th overall and the top American.
Fanni Szalai (Hungary): at 16 years old, Fanni is a supertri sensation and raced every race for Podium Racing in 2024.
Yanis Seguin (France): another rising star that made his first grand finale appearance in Neom, Saudi Arabia , finishing in 8th place overall.
Giving these athletes the opportunity to tow the line with athletes such as Jeanne Lehair, Léo Bergere and Hayden Wilde, to name a few, is precisely why Podium Racing wanted to be one of the four teams to secure a supertri team license. These experiences are invaluable and give next-generation athletes the experience and in many cases, the confidence, that they need to persevere each day in this sport.
Getting to the top of the sport and reaching their potential takes a ton of resources. We are focused on Podium Foundation and its ability to allow them to focus on their process and experiences, not on funding.
